:welcome: aboard coffeenut.

I tried to research that number you provided but I didn't come up with anything. Can you tell us if it is a single cylinder, two, three, four or what. And is it 2 cycle or 4 cycle? Post a few pictures for us to see if we can identify it and help you out... And even take a few shots without the cowl too. You never know what we can do... :thumb:

Hi there, welcome to iboats!:)

Your engine is going to be a 1978 model year as both the serial number chart and the engine model number 7008208 has it as an 1978 model year. S = Short Shaft.

You can search the model number online for a parts catalog or here's another one for you, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectSerailRange.asp?doc_nbr=8B

Mercury service manual part number 90-14679 which covers engine models 8B (677)/W8 (677)/Marathon 8 (677) 9.9C (682)/15C (684). http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...TRC0.H0.X90-14679.TRS0&_nkw=90-14679&_sacat=0
