Hi gang! Lurker turned member wanting to share some of my restore pics from my first boat, for this first time boat owner. So you'll be seeing me ask all the dumb newbie questions. I bought the boat from a fellow member on here and did some "sprucing-up". Anyhow, let me know what you guys think. <br /><br />Please don't mind the messy and unfinished website. Just like my boat, it's a always being worked on. Hope to finish up the links, I'm new to HTML so I have my wife help me when she has a minute. <br /><br />She's "older" but paid for!! :) 1975 Bayliner Mutiny. <br /><br />www.geocities.com/gamefishinchiquita<br /><br />Thanks!!<br /><br />Ari-

Sorry, don't know what's wrong with it. I'll have to contact my "it support" aka wifey. I'll try and get it up as soon as possible.

Aristotle,<br /><br />That is a real nice resto job on that boat. I really like the yellow/grey color combo. Is the grey carpet the indoor/outdoor carpet available at the home centers?

Massimofinance, <br />No. I haven't. It didn't look too bad at all so I left it alone for now. I'll check it out again pre-spring and make that determination and remove the carpet and maybe spray some bedliner on it. I'm not sure. <br /><br />Mark, <br />Yes, it's outdoor/marine carpet that I bought locally. It cleans up pretty good and dries out pretty quickly. <br /><br />Thanks all! I've also recently installed dual batteries and a Guest battery switch. I've also installed a water filter/seperator. And also a GPS unit. Next project will be replacing that rear cover with an actual lid so I can mount my rocket launchers and more rod holders in the back. As well as re-doing my floors. <br /><br />If you guys want to hear something funny, at the start of this year boats and big water was actually one of my biggest phobias growing up. This is the first boat I've been on and owned. My family thought I was crazy. Never been around them my whole life, then one day... <br /><br />Thanks again ya'll. It's good to be around folks just as crazy about boats as I've become. <br /><br />I'm as wet behind the ear as you can get when it comes to boating.

Aristotle,<br /><br />If you are new to boating, don't forget to take a boating class. Some are free, others you pay for, depends on what is available in your state. You will learing some real, real, real important boating use and safty info, and can even get a discount on your boat insurance.<br /><br />You have no idea how much you don't know about boating until you take a boating course. You will be happy you did. <br /><br />I would suggest one by the United States Power Squadron. They have squadrons all over the USA. Look them up on the net.<br /><br />Good Luck!

Good advice! I already have! :) I took the Power Squadron classes and received my safety certification and also took the additional Navigational class. On top of all that my boat is also already insured and received it's USCG boat inspection badge this year. The reviewing officer was pretty impressed. :) First thing I did after taking the class was properly equiping my boat with all the safety stuff and then some, and learned how to use them. I'm a very fast learner. I have since been with quite a few very seasoned salties and have also learned alot more from them. Like how to read the sky and when to pull it up and head in. Most important. And because I've torn my entire boat apart I keep every tool I use in my boat and know each one. Redundant preparedness is the key. I also have a habit of letting someone always know my float plan, usually my wife or good friend that have all the numbers to call. I can't help it, this culture plays too closely with my line of work. :)

Spray some bedliner on it? sounds like a good idea...Is that the same stuff that you use for pickups? Where do you find it? Is it an aerosol can? Does it waterproof the wood well? I might try that, thanks for the idea!

B.S.- I like the 80's Bayliner. They are a great Hull design. The puttogether needed help. I.E.- rotted floors due to little or no glass on it.<br />Poor Quality hardware.<br /><br />All that can and will be fixed on mine. :)

i like the looks of the bayliner trophy, also, they cant be any worse than sea ray which I've heard is the most sought after pleasure boat out there.(Seems to me that they are the most sought to sell) I will never buy another sea ray, but I got a feeling that the guy who buys mine will swear buy them :)

Re: Hi, new here, check out my boat restore pics...

realgun this is what I did:<br />
image.asp
<br /> That square box is what I did for access, and all i used for support was three plys 1/2" laminated and screwed together under the floor slightly smaller than the box you can seein the pic Being you dont have access under your floor, you may be able to just laminate on top of the floor and glass over for a raised look. Kinda like on the roof of Danarunas houseboat. Sorry aristotle, but I know realgun is looking for answers and doesnt want to rip up his brand new floor. By the way, I took out that plywood on the bottom, and it is bare hull under that empty space

Looks great!<br /><br />I'm on my first powerboat...had an old sailboat previously that I only kept for about a year, until the need for speed kicked in. Looks like you've done a really great job on yours so far!<br /><br />Looks like a fun project!

Aristotle, impressed with the way you went about you project. Most people would have got the boat running and went to the water forgetting the classes and safety equipment. Great boat!!<br /><br />Happy holidays to everyone.
