Hi gloss polished look - what am I missing.

I picked up the kit from McKee's. It came with a single pad of each type/color, marine/rv heavy oxidation remover and a one-step polish/sealant as well as other polishing pad(not really a pad) with elastic like it's meant to fit over one of the other pad that velcro on.

I worked through and buffed out the oxidation. When I go to apply the polish, it's shinny but not like like the hi-gloss I see on the area up at the bow.

What am I missing? Also what is the "not really a pad" with the elastic?

sometimes there is enough oxidation that you need to wetsand and then buff

Here's the one pic with before/after using the oxidation remover and the heavy cut pad.

I was just looking at it again, may be I need to do another pass with the orange pad (lighter cut/polishing) before going to the black pad (polishing)
