Re: Hi everyone!

Welcome!

I too had a 16' Cobia boat. It was a good sturdy craft. I believe it was a 1972 with a 65 hp Merc. I bought it from my brother in 1982. At the time, I figured it would be less expensive to overhaul it vs buy a new boat. I had been looking at a 20' Wellcraft. The Cobia needed much repair., new engine, paint job, seats etc. A Long story short: I ended up spending more fixing it up than a new 20' Wellcraft would have cost with a trailer. Know when to quit! I did however have the boat until I bought new in 1989. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the Cobia and I recooped 1/2 when I sold. Your boat looks like it doesn't need much repair. Enjoy it and welcome to iboats.

I would also recommend getting some better seats. Those seats are great for fishing seats when the boat isn't in motion, but they flex way too much for use when in motion. Been there, done that. You can find good seats here on Iboats or on Ebay. I bought a nice set of Tempress oem type seats for my boat, and they hold up very well to my heavy arse when I floor it.

Welcome to Iboats, plenty of good folks here...

WOW, those pics are hilarious! Transom tie downs added to the list.
Thanks for all the replies, I didn't realize those seats are for fishing! Good catch.
Well, i can wait for next week for actually seeing the boat in person, righ now is sitting on his house in Louissiana, he's coming up to baitsville MS for work next week and we are meeting there. I'll have more questions I guess when I examine the boat in person....

What you see here is our new "Rapid Launch" boat launching system. Just imagine no longer having to back down that steep slippery ramp. The system here is the Express Mid Size and accomodates boats up to 18' in length. Although we have a few small glitches to work out we are confident that the system will be ready for Spring '07. Additionally we are seeking investors to help us in our development process.

Re: Hi everyone!

SeaFoam is a fuel system cleaner. Also will help if there is a little water in the fuel.
Most auto parts stores sell it.
Have fun and let us know how it runs...8)8)

Re: Hi everyone!

Tried to start it but just fired 2 times, smelled gas, realized a pretty decent fuel leak from the primer, (the ball cracked) so need to get a new hose and primer, the hose is craqcking also.
So I decided to tackle other things. My friend gave me a new shroud seal (gasket) so I put it on, and varnished the wooden grille that goes on the floor and put a new fire extinguisher.
I guess I''m going to clean the carbs before I try to start it again.
How long does that take for a first timer?

Re: Hi everyone!

Replace the hose and bulb and see how it runs..
It was probably sucking air with the rotted hose..
Plus get some fresh gas in it...
