I just wanted to give you ample notice that I will be changing my screen name. Technounderstoodo is a bit too whiney. I wouldn't want the cats, to think I was becoming namby pamby. Still no mail. It is told that the use of cat to refer to a man was created in the song Blue Suede Shoes, or that is the way the late Carl Perkins tells it. I don't know how it was before but I thought catty remarks were the exclusive province of the feminine gender. cest la vie. The picture from Qld Australia looks a lot like the coast around Santa Monica.
Any suggestions on the new screen name will be considered. Don't pull any punches. Just remember I hit pretty hard. :) :tongueincheek: ;)

Cool persons were referred to as Cats when The King was still in short pants. That's as early as I remember it, but it might have been around longer than that.

How about TechnoCat?

Good one JB, but in deference to one who might consider that guilt by association I'll have to pass.

Re: Blue Suedes I think Carl Perkins would have been older than you. edit..............Off to barnes and noble... Carl Perkins, April 9, 1932 - January 19, 1998
While some ill-informed revisionist writers of rock history would like to dismiss Carl Perkins as a rockabilly artist who became a one-hit wonder at the dawn of rock & roll's early years, a deeper look at his music and career reveals much more. A quick look at his songwriting portfolio shows that he composed "Daddy Sang Bass" for Johnny Cash, "I Was So Wrong" for Patsy Cline, and "Let Me Tell You About Love" for the Judds, big hits and classics all. His influence as the quintessential rockabilly artist has played a big part in the development of every generation of rockers to come down the pike since, from the Beatles' George Harrison to the Stray Cats' Brian Setzer to a myriad of others in the country field as well. His guitar style is the other twin peak.... No Birth date given. This Data Base has been faulty since it was transferred from CD Now. Johnny Cash inspired Perkins to approach Phillips with a new song he had written called "Blue Suede Shoes."...
Ready to cash in on a national basis, Carl and the boys headed up to New York for the first time to appear on The Perry Como Show. While en route their car rammed the back of a poultry truck, putting Carl and his brother Jay in the hospital with a cracked skull and broken neck, respectively. While in traction, Perkins saw Presley performing his song on The Dorsey Brother Stage Show, his moment of fame and recognition snatched away from him. Perkins shrugged his shoulders and went back to the road and the Sun studios, trying to pick up where he left off.

Elvis would be 70 this year, so it appears that you and Elvis were in short pants together. ;)

Hey Aldo,
Put the Emphawsis on the wrong sa lobble. How about technounstupid.
I wanted to axe another question but was afraid to start another thread, also I know that an unanswered thread usually remains unanswered but once the ice is broken the "opportunity advance" keeps the topic active. Question: Is there a mechanism for pushing an edited originating post up with out adding a response?
This would then keep the subject manner current without adding to the bandwidth. Or inviting Impertinet(sp) comments.

Re: Hey Dunaruna

Just walked outside and was greeted by a gorgeous day. Sun is bright temp in the low seventies, no wind and scattered clouds. As the Earth changes it position to the Sun people in the iboats environment are experiencing gradual changes to dramatic changes. It being November and so mild the term Indian Summer came to mind. What constitutes and Indian Summer? Is there an equivilent term to describe the same phenomina down under or in other countries or hemispheres. Give Aldo time to have his coffee and allow him first crack at the question. I thank you.... And NO GOOGLING! ;)

Re: Hey Dunaruna

Well, where I live (far south) it is mild to hot 365days, some winters get chilly, but no freezing temps. Every few years we might get a handful of nightly frosts - that's about it. Boating is year round.

Up north, it's hot 24/7/365. They don't refer to the four seasons, they get a 'wet season' and a 'dry season' (same as florida??) - is that an indian summer? It is a weird feeling standing in the pouring rain AND sweating at the same time.

Today's forcast for my area - cloudless day, mild breeze, top of 90F. Tommorow 95F. Last night was a bit chilly - 62F. In a few weeks the temps will start to pass 100. But we are not getting what we really need, rain.

How about technoreflecto?

Re: Hey Dunaruna

That would be a Native American Summer. Nothing to do with Indja the country.

I do see a problem with the emphasis, is it techno reflecto or tech no reflecto? Or is that part of the logic? Entries will be accepted until midnight PST

Evidently you don't live too far south if you have no winter. What about the edit thing?

Re the Florida comparison, they do get freezing temps there and when they are hit hard the price of California Oranges goes up. I suppose that the same is true when we are hit hard. There may be places in Florida where it never freezes but I don't think there is place in CA that does not see some frost. Subject to information to the contrary.
You really need to get an Iboat map for the down under guys. ;)

Re: Hey Dunaruna

so I your goal is to attempt to goad Iboats members? My post was not an insult per say. just a suggestion. Take it any way you wish.

I could read "go buy a vowel" in your post as an attack. But why?

Further......your posted stuff " do see a problem with the emphasis, is it techno reflecto or tech no reflecto? Or is that part of the logic? Entries will be accepted until midnight PST"......

Good by..........

Techno, I'm interested in those vowels you keep offering up for sale. Can you post their return rate? ;) How about a bulk rate?

For a name, how about "Technounphasedo" I may have misspelled unphased.

All vowel transactions must made and approved thru snapperbait. He is founder and soul owner of the franchise and distribution is at his discrection. Your spelling is quite accurate however the syntax are questionable. If you mean that nothing phases me you are a very astute and admirable individual. If however you are suggesting that I am out of phase you may apply to snapper for the commodity he is holding for me..... ;) :) D) :p I don't know whether I have noted this before, but it seems as though what he suggests is anatomically impossible. I will just have to defer to his greater intellect.

Ok, here it is. After much deliberation and very little input - the new name will be TECHNOQUIET.
