Ladies and gentlemen:

You have seen a REAL football team. So for all of your who don't live in New England, please take note. That's how you win in the NFL. Run the ball, play good aggressive defense, and make a big play now and then. That's how you can win, even when you aren't anywhere close to your best.

It was a well plyed game plain and simple.....Were the Steelers good, YES. Were they the better team?? Most likely. The right things happend to get them there........

Are they a dynasty?? NO.

They are in fact a REAL football team. Dont have to be flashy to win, just gotta be a team.

From Super Bowl IX thru XIV, they were, and the first and the best dynasty.

Did I say they were a dynasty now? No I didn't. I am simply pointing out to the rest of the NFL (besides the New England Patriots) that FLASH doesn't win your Super Bowls.

Yea, the Steelers were good, but I think the nation saw the refs take the game away from the SEAHAWKS.

I have to say the Steelers were the better team today. But I do agree with James. It did seem like the Seahawks got caught with more flags than the Steelers. My husband saw that too. So, that's three people who saw that. Anyway, good game though. Good game! Alot of talent out on that field.
Bassy

It was an absolute disgrace again for the NFL.

I was too emotional watching the game and missed some things. Watching the highlights, the Seahawks had more first downs, more yardage, and more time of possession, but I will admit my beloved Seahawks played flat and made some key mistakes when they could have taken the game away. Anyway, I hate to be a poor sport and the Steelers did play well. So I will concede the Steelers were the better team on the field today.

Dont even know you but thank you and Bassy!
btw welcome to iboats.

This was the first superbowl I ever watched and the very first football game that I have ever watched from start to finish. Most likely will be the last on both also.

And I thought Lord of the Rings was LONG! ;)

So Im not looking at it from a disgrunted fans point of view. Just what I saw.

Those refs should never work again IMO.

Refs aside part:
Congrats to the Steelers and their fans! And yes I think the fans count!

But why do the fans feel the need to turn cars over and destroy things after a win?? That part bothers me!

To Seahawks fans.. and the Seahawks.. FL is going to be fun next year! :D :D

Congratulations to the Steelers.

Just an opinion, but I believe the NFL needs to hire full time referees. The part time ref may have been ok during the 1960's, but it is too large and profitable to say they cant afford top notch refs.

Re: Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go

I will agree that the officiating was not great, but it was not at it's worst either. There were a lot of "no calls" that went the way of the Seahawks also. One glaring one is the push in the back (clip) of Roethlesburger after the threw the interception and was trying to make the tackle. If that had been called the Seahawks would have started at about the 50 yard line instead of the Steeler 17.

The offensive pass interference against the Seahawks on their called back touch was a fair call. Even though it was a "chippy" call, it will, and should, be called anytime it is done right if front of an official.

Also, there was a lot of holding on the Seahawks that was not called.

Not trying to say the officiating could have been better, but it was fair.

Now with that said, I sure am glad my beloved Steelers, and the BUS, got their one for the thumb! Hope Bettis comes back as a backfield coach next year! Did you hear him coaching Parker on the sidelines - and Parker following through on the instructions and running 75 yards for the touchdown!

A great end to a storybook season.

Aspeck I agree with you 100%......

Listen guys the officiating didnt win or lose that game for anyone. It most CERTAINLY wasnt favored towards the Seahawks......sorry if you think that way. If you do, you either really wanted Seatle to win or you dont regularly watch football.

Naw.....not a single person at the SB party I was at thought that, and they were all rooting for Seattle.............So I think the nation really SAW a great football game where the team that played better won.

TilliamWe-

FWIW the Steelers were not the best or even the first dynasty. ;)

1)Which team has 12 World Championships?
2)Which was the first team to WIN three consecutive titles???
3)Which team has done that twice???
4)You want a dynasty? Complete with domination. How about NFL titles in these years. 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967

Pony, look up Lombardi's career record and Chuck Noll's and get back to me.

With the exception of SB I & II, how many were against the watered down NFL (Remember the AFL had a lot of the talent too)? Simply put, they had an easier road to the NFL championship.

Wow, I can't believe all the crying about officiating. Seems like the Steelers got cheated a lot worse against Indy, but you know the big difference? The Steelers still won! Thus making them the better (and Best) team.

I just love all of this arm chair QB. The refs do as good as they can, you have to make split second calls, some might be a little questionable but so be it. All I can say is the best team won, it is not who moved the ball the most or who got the most 1st downs but what the score is at the end.

I almost don't feel like dignifying that with a response. I could argue the other way and say that anyone who is seriously complaining about the officiating and thinks it was the worst in SB history is bleeding Seahawk blood......

Was it great officiating?? No not by any means, but it was NOT the worst I have seen.

Did it cost Seattle the game?? If you think it did then you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about football.

Now lets back up a minute.....How dare anyone accuse me of being blinded by Steeler love.....Have you read any of my posts here?? I am as Green and Gold as it gets. Do I know nothing about football?? If you think I don;t then I have to question your knowledge. Nothing that I have said about that SuperBowl hasnt been agreed with by at least some others. I dont know your live PierBridge.....but here football is LIFE. I bleed green and gold on a daily basis year round. I haven missed one game since I was in 2nd grade and had some school thing during a game. On average during the season I watch a minimum of 5 games college or pro on any given sat or sunday. I also played football......so dont even try to tell me I dont know what I am talking about....because I WILL SCHOOL you.

TilliamWe- I am not gonna argue dynasties with you.....its not even possible to rationalize any argument because none of the teams played each other or had similar playing styles.

The people at the party werent made up, it was a collection of uncles, grandpa, and my dad. And no one was drunk despite what you may think.....
