I have around 18 hours in trying to fix mine and still nothing. I took my lower pump thing apart and 3 large ball bearings fell out along with a small BB and a large and small spring. Took it to 2 local boat shops to just be told "they didn't know." I tried to put them where I thought they would go and put it all back together. Then after hooking all four lines up and filling it back up with oil, only the trim hydraulic works. The motor will not come up any further. Any ideas?TrimTilt 1.JPGTrimtilt 2.JPGTrimtilt 3.JPGTrimtilt 4.JPG

Technically, if the trim cylinder works it means the tubing for the tilt cylinder was not connected in the proper port because both the trim and tilt upward tubings (bottom of each cylinder) share the same side of the valve body albeit on two separate ports. On the regular two wire, separate trim and tilt system, these two ports are the bottom one for the trim and the most aft one (three ports on the sides) for the tilt. In the attached pics, line #3 and #4 are the upward lines while #1 and #2 are the down or return lines. This is assuming you have this type of system. Tilt and Trim lines.jpg

Re: Help!

Take another close look at it. It's pretty much the same as yours. The balls are placed in the proper position and so is the small spring. The only thing that is not installed in it's proper place is the large spring which goes on top of the ball on the left side of the picture. The spring goes inside the hole on the opposite half of the pump body. The gears are switched around but when you assemble the two halves they are correctly positioned.

Re: Help!

Jiggz...THAT is not the problem, lines!

4x4...ya got something in the body screwed up. This is a 125 88 unit I think, but should be the same. NO one should take those apart without knowledge FIRST! (I hope I never have too!)
I posted this years ago, but I''ll do it again.
Don't ask me anymore on it, as my 88 still works fine. I forgot even where I got this info. Hope this solves the problem!
