Re: Help

Are you talking about the pin in the top of trim ram or the pin in the bottom the holds the unit on ??

Re: Help

You can use heat around the pin and the drive it out with a BFH and a Brass drift. Try Mapp gas first and if that doesn't work try acy/ox.

Re: Help

I've done it with the mtr on the transom quite a few times but you just have to be carefull. Saves pulling the mtr.

Re: Help

You did remove the "keeper" that holds the pin in, right? The pins can get seized. Try some penetrating oil, a drift and some solid rapping from a hammer.

Re: Help

I did this recently on a very salty/crusty motor. If needed, figure it might take a couple days. Day #1, I heated/cooled several cycles. then left it overnight soaking in PBlaster/Acetone/trans fluid combo. Day #2 I began tapping it cold and when heated. Let it get cold again, then hit the sourrounding area with gentle MAP gas and began driving it out pretty hard. It started to move, then I drove it back from the other direction. back n forth over time, with repeated heating, I finally got it out. Not an easy task.

Re: Help

Good job. You should be working down here in FL. Patience is the key to working on these salt water specials.

Re: Help

Thank to all. Finaly got it out. Know I have rebuilt all three cylinders and cannot get the air out. The trim cylinders will pick up but when the tilt cylinder is supposed to take over it does nothing????:confused:
