I have a 2003 Q3 Tahoe ski and fish boat, 3.0 liter, i noticed it is leaking my 2 cycle engine oil out somewhere and I checked the bottle, then the hose from the bottle tank to where it connects to the back of the boat outboard, there were no leaks there. The oil is in the inside cause it leaked out the drain plug when i took the plug out. Any ideas where its leaking? How serious is the issue?

Re: Help!

What is the 2 cycle oil for? Isn't that 3.0L a 4 stroke I/O? But leaking oil is a big deal!

Re: Help!

If you have a 3.0 liter motor then it is a 4 stroke and the bottle you are refering to is Drive Lube. What engine do you have exactly? Is it an outboard or an I/O?

Re: Help!

If you actually have a 3.0L 4 cylinder inboard motor with an outdrive on the back of your boat, then you better not be putting 2 cycle oil in anything. If you are using 2 cycle oil because of color, then you are probably putting it in the gear lube monitor, instead of gear lube.

yes it is a 3.0L 4 cylinder inboard motor with an outdrive on the back of the boat. I was told that container was for the 2 cycle outboard oil it appears more people are idiots than not when it comes to boats. Gear oil? theres a hydraulic oil container at the lower bottom near the hull, so this one holds gear oil called? Have i already damaged the boat? I mean the oil leaked out and was in the hull underneath the engine with the drainage water, not much, but what do you suggest i do before taking it back out?

Re: Help!

I'm not sure what you are actually looking at, but here is a link to a 2001 owners manual. Has the same setup in it as your 2003.

PS: If you are using Google Chrome as a browser, you will get a malware alert. Not sure why, the alert doesn't alert in any other browser, just Chrome.

Re: Help!

The "hydraulic reservoir" down low is prolly your trim pump. The drive oil will be up higher on the engine usually. This is for gear oil. Let's see a pic of what your working on.

Re: Help!

Yeah. Firefox also reports it as an "Attack Site" too.

So I just called Boatfix on their direct number.

Boatfix Website Tech support told me that they have fixed the problem and Google told them that it would be a while before their system was updated...........

MAN this will screw their sales for a while!!

If you put 2 stroke oil in your drive lube reservoir, you need to drain and replace the oil in your drive.

You probably didn't hurt it.
