Help with year of mercury thunderbolt 50hp

Is there a place on the web to look up the year a motor was manufactured? I have a 50hp Mercury Thunderbolt sn 3718205...Also can a manual for just this motor be purchased? My dad and I have used this motor for over 20 years. He passed away and left it to me, we have have never had any work done to it other than sparkplugs...so I would like to know where I could find parts...I have checked at a couple of none dealer boat repair shops. They told me the parts were hard to come by....thanks J. Hightowere

They are available under the QUICKSILVER label, and Sierra for aftermarket stuff. It is probably due for an impeller.<br />The motor is a 1973.<br />These are very good engines.
