Hi All, We own a 1990 310 Sundancer this is our first season with her and so far we are very happy. One issue we are having though is with the Vacuflush system. I knew from before purchase the seal between the bowl and the mount leaked so the system would not hold any vacuum, I have since replace that seal. The system essentially does function, but has a couple of issues. The first is if I leave the system on the vacuum pump (replaced last season by PO) cycles every 45 -60 seconds. The 2nd problem is when the pump runs I can smell septic and the 3rd issue is when my wife sits on the bowl it leaks water from the base. The bowl I have is raised version with drain out the back above the floor. If anybody is familiar with these system can point me in the right direction I would much appreciate it. Of course very few of the systems components are easy access. Also related but not, is the holding tank level system doesn't work either so I never know how much is in there. I did get it pump out last weekend.

Why these systems need to be so complicated I do not know. We would like to get this system to at least working with no foul odors coming from it. I would consider scrapping the whole thing and replacing with a good old fashion manual pump head.

Have a great weekend

Cycles every so often means there is a vacuum leak. Can be a hose, fitting or needs a new duck bill. Over tightening things can cause problems also

When the vac pump is working its expelling the air being pushed out thru the tank vent, and this is normal. If you smell it when its not running then need to replace the charcoal canister on the vent line

The leaking is either a seal or crack in the bowl of fitting

Thanks AD, always a pleasure to hear from you. I will read through the link you sent when I have time. I was planning on replacing the filter just haven't gotten to it yet, it does look long over due and neglected. The head system on our last boat was not functioning but we made do so it has not been high on the list. Mike
