I'm replacing the floor in my boat and will resign and fiberglass instead of carpet. I want to clean and waterproof the inside of the haul since I will have access. I'm wondering after sanding the aluminum well and wiping with acetone should I paint (I'm using Non skid Monster paint for the deck and will have extra) or glass or spray rust-oleum?? My concern is using material that will mildew. Please help! Thank You!

ps. my son and I are doing the work and I most likely have more Q's, pics, and video in the future.

I'm re posting this after editing, People though I was asking about the deck. I'm asking about the inside of the aluminum haul on the inside under the deck. How should I clean and seal?????

Welcome to iBoats . . .

The most durable surface will be gel coat instead of paint. I am not a fan of painting fiberglass . . . it just does not seem right, except for anti-fouling paint on the hull.

Looking forward to the pictures to get a better visual on your project.

No need to fiberglass any wood in an aluminum boat, you can use Epoxy resin instead and forget the fiberglass mat/cloth.

I used 4 coats of epoxy resin on my decking when I did my Tracker and it's like a sheet of Lexan over the plywood.

You may want to consider Marine vinyl instead of paint, it's very non slip and extremely easy to clean. I used it in my boat and am very pleased with it. You can see what I did to my boat here:
