help with stator

Ok I have a mid 90's 40hp evin with no spark, and an 82 70hp evin thats locked up. I think the 40hp has a bad stator, can I use the stator out of the 70hp or are they different.

i am sure they are different, 40 is 2 cylinder, 70 3 cylinder, but you can check parts here:
