I have loosened the coupler nut on the starboard side of the motor, with a lot of help with PB Blaster. I have tapped the output end of the steering shaft maybe halfway through the tilt tube, but cant get it any further, and pulling on the steering cable towards the helm hasn't worked either. How do I move on from here?

Is the bend in the cable causing the problem or does it seem to be sticking in the tilt tube? I did my old boat a few years ago and had no issues. A buddy, however, spend a solid day trying to do his.

You will have to ubolt the motor and slide the motor over.....very common but that is how it is done

It feels like its stuck in the tilt tube. do i have to disconnect all the wires/cables from the engine to move it? is it the two nuts on the tilt and trim tube (not the coupler nut) i need to remove?
