Help With Rectifer/Regulator

I have a 1995 Evinrude Intruder 175. The problem is that i have just bought a new rectifer and my old one has a yellow wire with a gray stripe, plain yellow wire, a gray wire, a red wire and a purple wire. My question is that on my new rectifer it doesnt have the purple wire. Does anyone know what the pruple wire is for and is it needed on the new rectifer? Please help, I need to get back on the lake.<br /><br />Dave

The purple wire is keyed 12 volt source to the reg/rec .Since it already has a constant 12 v source from the red wire ,it is not needed.The one you bought is correct.They did away with the purple wire.
