I am attempting to remove the heads/block from a 1986 3.7 murcruiser. everything seemed to come a part, but something is holding the exhaust elbow and resevoir towards the front of the block. It don't appear to be anything holding it other than a stud. I tried heating it however it still wont release. If someone could give me some insite and some suggestion to make this come loose from the block I would appreciate it.

Re: help with heads/block

Are you tring to remove the exhaust manifold or just the elbow riser on the exhaust manifold? Post a pic if you can.

Re: help with heads/block

I've seen the risers stuck on pretty good after removing all the nuts/bolts on other inline engines but never did one on the 3.7. To loosen I have used rubber mallets, blocks of wood and have just kicked them with the bottom of my feet with back up against the gunnel so i didn't have to get out of the boat for a tool. Isn't it the manifold that has the reservoir on the 3.7?
