We bought our used boat last fall for $2400, and it was just what we were looking for. Just something that would allow us to putt around on the lake while camping out on weekends.
I wanted to wait and see how the boat ran for a season before doing anything else to the boats other problems. My first concern was the engine, and it ran great.
The boat has a small power steering leak somewhere that as of now I’ve not been able to run down.
I’m planning now for next springs work to be done on the boat. The keel on the boat has some damage that needs to be fixed. Any ideas after looking at these pictures, how this happened? Running the boat ashore, or trailer rollers? How do I fix this damage?
Thanks George

Where the glass is gone, it would probably be best to through some new glass on the inside of the hull. Then where you put new glass, and the other spots worn down, piece in glass in layers to level it back out. If/where the gel is just missing, I would just use some marine tex on the outside (you could also go over your glass repairs with this).

Could have happend from being grounded or the lack of a roller on the back center of the trailer.

Strizzy are you saying the floor would have to come up so one could get on the other side of this damage to put down some layers of fiber, and resin?

I had a crack in my keel at the bow:

I cut a hole in the floor at 20 degree angle so I could put the piece back in and glassed it on the inside first. I then used some mat and gorrlia glue mixed together to hold the piece back in.

I then used glass and marine tex on the outside and put gelcoat on that. NOt the prettiest repair for me, but it worked:
