If you call comp cams I would bet money they would tell you you are going to give up 10 or 15 ft pounds of peak torque to gain 15 or 20 hp if the only thing you change is the cam from the 264 to the 270.
An educated guess... peak torque prob in the 3,800 rpm area, give or take... and peak hp in the 5,000rpm area.
If you dont ever run the boat at WOT it may be best to go with the 264.
I would call them and ask. They love to chat about their cams. I bet they will tell you that most of the time a customer when selecting a cam from the catalog should pick what they think they need, then select the next smaller. This might be a perfect example of that.
They will no doubt want to know everything... Intake, carb, heads, exhaust, c/r, rocker ratio etc.
I also bet they will recommend a little more cylinder pressure... bump the C/R to 9.25 or 9.5
Let us know what they say.
