I just purchased this boat/engine and pulled off the engine cover and noticed these 2 wires (shown in photo) were not connected. Does anyone know where they are suppose to attach?

Both are on the Starboard side and the top wire is Purple and the bottom is Brown.

It is a 2000 Mercury Saltwater EFI, 150HP

** Sorry photos are small I dont know if the forum allows any larger.

Thanks for your help!

Purple wire is key'd power. If the oil alert module is missing, this is where it got power.

Brown with a white tracer is trim sender wiring.

hope it helps

I was thinking the brown was actually a tan which is more alarm wiring. So my question to the OP. Does it beep when the key is turned?

Re: Help! Where do these wires attach?

Dave- when I turn the key to run I don't hear any beep. I did not go to start because it is dry docked. The brown wire is dark brown with white marker.

John- how would I know if the oil alert module is missing? What does it look like? Where is it located.

Makes sense that brown wire is not connected bc I dint have a trim guague.

Thanks for ur help!

There'd be an oil tank mounted on the engine with a couple of wires coming from it. They go to the oil alert. Other wires to it would be purple power, black ground, green (usually) spark signal, and a couple from the oil pump itself.

If all that's missing, it's been converted to pre-mix.

hope it helps
