just cleaned/rebuilt carbs. new gas and gas lines. the prop spins by hand. water stream is strong

this was done on the water. motor will rev in neutral with high idle, but when in forward it wont go higher then 2600ish. would get to 2600rpm at 80% on the throttle, 90-100% will bog down lower to round 2000rpm.

any ideas?

compression is on the list after i get off today (will update with it). i took it out yesterday and it ran for 2 hours on the water pushing the boat. just got this boat and motor, had sat for a few years in a garage. havent checked the key, in my xp if that goes it wont start, and this has run fine other than it not reving.

went home for lunch, did a compression test.
from facing cylinders from back
105.........115
105.........115(spark plug was the clean one)

obviously going to replace the plugs, only first messed with the motor yesterday. the one being clean makes me think that it isnt getting gas/not firing. it is a 2 carb(2 barrel each). will check the spark, ran out of time on lunch. just cleaned carbs, but will take a look again. also looks to be burning rich, so will tweak that.

Reasons for clean sparkplug.-----Plug not firing.---Bad plug lead --No fuel or too much fuel.---Ruptured diaphragm on fuel pump.-----Poor crankcase compression ?-----Did you remove the high speed jet ( found inside the float bowl ) for the cylinder with clean plug.

I removed the float and sprayed it out, carb clean came out the other end. i am leaning toward it not sparking, will be checking spark on everything after i get off. i ordered a new coil, 20 bucks and 1day delivery. figured cant hurt to have one spare even if it isnt the issue right now.

Found the issue. The power pack lead to the coil was pinched, had corroded in half. Spliced a new wire in, and we have spark. Will water test for power tomorrow night.
