Hi. We have a boat in storage and just went to check on it. We found that the cover fell in and developed a hole. The carpet is soaked and has some green algae as well as some black sections.its been raining here and expected to continue for a couple hours. We won't get to clean it until tomorrow.

Do we let the carpet air out before cleaning it? Can we use an algae killing product like those made for siding or do they make one for marine use? What's the easiest way to clean it? We're total newbies and need advice! Thanks!

First off.... Welcome to iboats!
I suggest you use a wet/dry vac and get as much water out of the carpet that you can. You may end up vacuuming up a lot of the green algea at the same time. I would then let it dry in the sun and then vac it again. See what remains and then use your choice of carpet cleaner.
