Today on the water i started the boat over 10 times, no issues.
It started raining, so i went under a bridge and was idling for 10 minutes to let the rain pass over. At the time i didnt think anything of it, but my outboard was getting rained on the whole time, and then on the way back to the boat ramp, i noticed white smoke coming out of the outboard.
Could water getting in there be the cause of this? if so, has damage been done, or is this something i shouldnt worry about?
Thanks in advance!

Rain can’t get in the combustion chamber. Sounds like a blown head gasket.
When was the last time you changed the water pump?

Does motor still star and run the same ?----Test run tomorrow and see what happens.-------This issue might be related to air temperature / moisture in the air.------Or local atmospheric conditions.

Outboard motors will emit steam from their exhaust, when the weather is cold. Usually you do not see steam when the weather is warm.

Usually you will see real clean spark plugs, if you are getting water in the cylinders.
