my uncle had this boat for a couple of years that he took an trade for some work he done and since he hasnt done anything with it he gave it to me and i cleaned it up put an engine on it and new carpet and seats. well came time to get it legal for the water (which i shouldve done before i spent a dime on it) and i cant read the HIN because someone has scratched most of it off. the AR(arkansas) numbers are not on there either. i think it is around a 90s model javelin fish and ski boat. Does anybody know what i can do to get a HIN number or something to get it legal or did i just waste my time and money?

If it is a 90's vintage boat, there is another HIN hidden somewhere on the boat. You just have to hunt it down.

Welcome aboard.

You should really first inquire at your registering authority DNR or DMV whoever does it. This will establish if you have wasted time and money.

You may be surprised or you may be headed on a long witch hunt.
