HELP NEEDED--->Key switch for older Evinrude.

62 model evinrude.<br /><br />in the wiring diagram it shows that there are five wires coming from the switch. Accessory, Battery, One that goes to solenoid, and two that go to the magneto. the only switch that i can find only have four terminals. what is the fix here?

On the old switch you had 2 black wires that went to magneto and ground. In the off position those 2 wires were shorted together to shut the motor off. When the switch was in the on position it would break that short to allow the motor to start.<br />Did you try looking at your local NAPA Auto parts for the switch? They carry or can get many Johnny/Rude parts.

most outboard dealers carry them also! fairly cheap, about $30 is what i paid for my new omc switch. even comes with real slick looking key!

Hi Wikelam<br />I'm a small engine tech and we use these switches everyday. Just go to your local lawn and garden repair shop, or farm equipment dealer. Ask for an ignition switch for a magneto ignition with electric start. They should probably have one right there in stock, and they're a lot more plentiful than marine repair shops

Great to hear that. My dad works at a farm and feed supply store. they sell that stuff. he gets a 20% discount.
