Help me ID this !

I've had this laying in the garage for years.A powerhead,probably 2 hp and has a sticker sayingassed-inspected by Japanese Gov. 7046 and a alum. plug with A071 stamped on it.Any info will be appreciated.

Judging by the 2 decal, and the color of the paint, that looks like a late 80's mariner 2hp. Made by yamaha or nissan in a partnership with mercury which explains the japanese decal.

Alot of mariner outboards were actually yamahas. Mercury still uses nissan/tohatsus for their small hp models.

Thanks,it was new and in the shipping crate when I got it,unfortunately the wife threw the crate into the trash.What are the chances of finding a unit to put it on ?

I would try ebay, if you don't find one in need of work, maybe you can sell it.
