SO my boat sunk this summer... yeah in the begining so it was a long summer. I finally got it back from the mechanic who did the repair to ensure the motor runs again. when I got it home last night i started pulling up the rug and the floor was rotted. so I pulled it up a bit and the stringers look great little wet but SOLID no play no signs of rot. what I did notice is that there is no foam in the hull. my question is what do i wanna use to put foam in between the stringers? and how do i apply it? Thanks

Re: Help me help my boat

US composites sells the two part closed cell pour in expanding foam at a fairly reasonable price. Check out their website, sems to be pretty popular around here.

Why did it sink the first place? Sat out in the elements and filled up with water from being parked with the bow towards the shore or filled with rainwater?

Re: Help me help my boat

it had a small leak in it that was easy to drain w/ the bilge pump and a simple switch. I got all fancy and a bit over my head and tried to put a float switch in so that the 4th of july weekend that we were mooring it, i wouldn't have to sit in it all weekend and push the switch. my assumption is that the bilge was put in wrong and couldn't keep up. SO I am going to patch the holes in the hull and was thinking foam would help the cause, of keeping it on the surface in case i miss any of the holes.

Re: Help me help my boat

if the boat is under 20 feet....it is required by law to have it.

to most of us....it means the boat will eventually rot.

a lot of us leave it out if it is not a structural thing.

if you have foam in your boat....and it is a v hull....the foam will tend to make it flip if sunk or swamped.....if you just add the foam to inder the gunnels.......and under the deck....it will help as long as you have the right amount for the weight of the boat

Re: Help me help my boat

its a '72 tri hull that is 16'6". as far as I know I am the first one to rip up the deck so i would assume that there was no foam in it from the manufacturer (regal). Should I not do it then or should I go the extra mile and put it in???
