So I have a 1979 Evinrude 35, Model #35903A.
I want to add the starter and the starting system.
From what I can see....I need a lot of parts. I do have the flywheel with the teeth though.
Anybody willing to help a new guy get the parts list of what is needed?
Thank you

Re: Help me find parts numbers?

Bombardier makes an upgrade electric starter kit and sells it through their parts department. 173964. Their parts and accessories book shows a picture of the kit. Looks like a starter, solenoid and some wiring harnesses. If you want to pick out your own parts from their online parts diagrams, check out: epc.brp.com. The 1979 35 hp engines show the electric start parts diagram.

If you want to go for all new parts, the electric starting kit is part number 172346. Only $472.03. So perhaps you will rather go one of the recyclers for used stuff.

Shopevinrude.com has exploded diagrams with part numbers and then use the number to search the net ;)

Another option would be to watch craigslist for a blown up donor motor. I see them quite regularly in my area for less then $150.00
Reason being is that many of these have blown lower units and the cost of repair in new parts is equal or more than the cost of finding another runner.
