Re: Help Me Choose a Solid Aluminum Boat Hull?

A couple of advantages of aluminum boats over fiberglass, the aluminum is much lighter and very durable(no scraping, painting, gell-coating). The weight advantage can be a big factor depending on what you plan to tow with. My Express is a 1999 and I just touch it up with a can of camouflage OD green paint, otherwise it's like new. I can run the bow right up on the oyster bars and not worry about hurting it. But it all just depends on what you want and need. All boats are in one way or another just a compromise of what you want/need/can afford. Good Luck!

Re: Help Me Choose a Solid Aluminum Boat Hull?

I have just bought a used Crestliner Deep V with a welded hull... It is a great boat but a huge difference in weight from the 4 foot shorter boat I had before. I needed a family station wagon and that is what I bought but If you don't need lots of boat the lighter boats tend to be more handy to load and unload, as well as don't take as much gas to shove em' along. I miss the light runabout but gotta grow with the times. Hope you find what you need.
