I have a Mariner 40, 2 cillinder,manual start, 15 inch long, japaniese made. The only numbers i have on the block are 003947, 6E9 and 6E900. Please help, i need some parts for it. Thank you.
Val,<br /><br />Your engine looks about 1982. Several years ran for this serial number group. Is the engine a manual (pull) start or electric start?<br /><br />Chris.............
Everything up to and including 60hp was Yammy until about 1984. After that they're all Mercury, 100%. Except the 55 which was yammy until 1989 and the 40 which went to 1987 and the 30 which was yammy till 1992.... you get the picture......
Hate to dig up an old thread but I have a 40hp tiller long shaft mariner that has these numbers on it. 6e900 and 307749 i believe is a yahmaha built but not sure of the exact year. The serial plate id is missing.

You need to wait a little longer than 1 1/2 hours. It's not a Microsoft 'Help-line'.... Sometimes it takes a while before someone with the right knowledge gets to read your request (which should have been on a new thread, not tacked onto a 6 year old one....

Sorry I wasnt trying to clutter the site with more threads. Also I wasnt sure how this place worked, I assume like other sites if its not near the top or at least on the front page that I would get any responses. Please excuese me. I submitted it last night and I figured i would get more responses in the morning so I gave it a bump.
