Hey I'm new to boating and I bought a 1986 invader cuddy with a 305. It runs great, but my problem is when I hook it to the hose and let it run after I shut it off I notice a little water dripping from some sort of plug that looks like a T it appears to be brass. It is located at the front starboard side of my engine. it has the mercruiser 305 I haven't had it in the water yet but was planning On it this weekend. All help is appreciated. Thanks

It's probbally a block drain petcock, take it out and clean it up,they get rust flakes in them and sometimes leak a bit.

Thank you for the quick reply I will try that tomorrow when I get home. Do I need to put some kind of sealant or thread locker of some sort on when I put it back in? Thanks again

A sealer will help in several ways. 1 is seal. 2 it will make sure you can always get it out. 3 stop reaction between 2 metals.

I put permatex on almost every bolt, etc. I use in a engine.

Geeze it's just a petcock,if it came to my shop with sealant on it it would get replaced. All you have to do is clean it up,if it still leaks then replace.I've seen plenty of boat engines with permatex, silicone sealant's ect.....If it leak's with new gaskets it needs to be replaced, why take the risk of something happening out on the water.

Any pipe thread should get a sealant for lubrication if nothing else. I too use Permatex thread sealant:

Yup good stuff. I have always been in a saltwater area. Really silly to pull a motor so you can drill something out because some guy was trying to "beat the clock"
