You guys are great...it is a cup of joe, lots of WD-40, a sledgehammer, a whole lot of self determination and your advice that I venture out into the driveway tomorrow morning to solve the problems of the world, and if I can't do that, well maybe I will get my boat right!!!<br /><br />I will let you know how it goes....thanks<br /><br />Red sky(or is that eyes) in the morning ;)

All righty then. let me try to explain what has happened. While the motor was tilted and you jarred it good you have put a kink in the horizontal pivot tube that the steering cable end goes through.<br /><br />You are going to need to remove the cable from the motor (which may or may not be bent also) by hammering with a steel rod and Big hammer on the end which attaches to the steering link till it is removed. Now you will have to lift and support the motor and replace the pivot tube.

I feel silly even posting a boating subject after the turn of events of the past couple of days.<br /><br />At any rate, I got the rod out of the tube, but I destroyed it in the process. The tube is ok, I am working on getting it all crude cleaned out, and I have located a new cable and helm unit right here in town. I should be able to install it this weekend.<br /><br />Thanks for all your help.<br /><br />Prayers out to all the friends and family of the the victim's of this senseless act of terror that our entire country is experiencing. Let's hope cool heads prevail, and the inevitable anger is directed in the right direction.
