The fenders are very solid pieces. I'm hoping to adj the axle a bit to center them better. Kind of at a loss what else to do about them. Can you just buy fenders? They definitely don't fit the wheels correctly and one shows signs of rubbing the tire. Prob when a big bump is hit. It doesn't rub constantly.

Hey Jim could you elaborate a bit? I could install some eye bolts or something for holding the boat down, but what do I need to do to the boat? Seems like the straps should extend to the rear. Is that correct? I just don't really have anywhere good on the aft section to hook on to. I need a plan to make this work better. What is wrong with this picture? This is a boat trailer right? How come it doesn't fit a small boat like this better?

Yes you can buy just the fenders. Iboats carries them...as do most Farm & Supply stores.

Got handles in the back of the boat? Can secure a strap from the trailer to there. Easy Peasy. Did that on our MFG in my sig. Worked for years.

As for the trailer fitting the boat....looks fine to me. Doesn't look undersized or anything. Gotta remember back when this was built, trailers were narrower and ran 12" tires. Yours has been modified with larger rims/tires throwing things a bit out of whack. Not saying its wrong, but it will make launching / retrieving a bit more difficult than it needs to be as the trailer needs to be backed in further to compensate for the rim/tire height.

OK, cool. Never thought about a farm supply. We have a Tractor Supply nearby, maybe they have 'em.

Even though there are handles on the back of the boat, I can't think of any way to really use them. I'd almost have to crawl underneath the boat to get to them. This is where the shortness of the trailer is sticking it to me. Also why I'm considering making it longer.

Maybe I can somehow attach straps to uprights when I put side bunks on it. The other think that I don't like about my trailer is the tie down ratchets are held onto the trailer with just a tech screw. Does not seem very secure. I sure wish somebody had a picture of what the trailer is supposed to look like with a boat tied to it.

Attaching pics showing the handles and how far I'd have to go to reach part of the trailer.

Given the size/weight of the boat you could probably get away with the following....

Eyebolt into the trailer frame near the tail lights. Run ratchet straps from eyebolt to the handle on the transom. I'd be comfortable with that as we're not talking about a 4k+ lb I/O powered fiberglass boat.

FWIW....the TeeNee trailer under my uncle's 16' tiller Starcraft was setup very much the same way yours is. He used a strap over the center of the boat, like what you're doing. And he trailered that boat everywhere at speed.....8 hr trips into Ontario across the 400/401 and then washboard dirt logging roads were not uncommon.

In otherwords...I wouldn't get all caught up on how the trailer looks as its fine.

Thanks for idea. Was looking at it earlier and thinking something like that might work. Then straps straight out the back around transom, or around the sides be better? Seems like I see a lot guys got em going down the sides pulling the boat forward.

Then I need some type of safety chain or strap on the front in case the rope breaks, right?

Can't say I'm unhappy with the trailer. It pulls real nice. I'd just hate to lose the boat due to the crappy way it's set up right now. A few little tweaks and pretty sure it will be OK. The fenders fit funky, but I like the bigger wheels.
