I can’t seem to identify the engines on the boat I bought recently. I was told they are 2001 250HP EFI Saltwater 2-stroke motors.
I’m trying to find the serial numbers. The data tags on the transom bracket are gone and I did not see one on any freeze plugs on the starboard side of the engine block. I pulled the solenoid plate to have a close look.
In looking for parts on MOD EDIT, they have a field for serial number that I cannot use. They also have a way to search by engine type and I was able to get a little farther.
The power head intake (Fuel Management) looks like the one in serial number range 0G129222-0G760299.
But the gear selector (Gear Housing, Driveshaft-standard/Counter rotation) looks like the one in serial number range 1B504989 & Up.
I attached some screenshots showing what I found online and a couple pix of the motors. I’m not at the boat now, if better photos would help, I can get them tomorrow.
How can I tell what engines I have?
