Help Identifying Merc Outboard

Its a V6, suppossedly 200 hp, serial is 14998709. This may not be the correct number, as the identification plate is missing. In that case what other numbers can i use to identify it?

That should be a 7 digit number or 2 letters and 6 digits.

Without the plate, how can i identify my motor? Are there any other numbers I can use?

Look on the top of the starboard cylinder head. Should be a freeze plug there with the SN stamped in it. If it's the original power head.
