My friend just picked up a motor from Facebook marketplace that can run for a few seconds. The only identifying marks it has on it are Sears, model #3217 59440, "Twist Grip/clutch shift shallow water drive.". I can also make out the Serial Numbers #167 656, although am unsure if that is the entire serial number. have attached some pictures of it.
If anyone has any information especially manuals that would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to Sears Parts Direct, input your model number 217-59440, it brings up a parts list, diagrams etc. It is listed as a 7 hp Sears outboard. Most of the parts are no longer available thru Sears, but they do show part numbers, so you can search the web. Good Luck! I see parts from Eska, Eska & Force made outboards for Sears, I think it was the Game Fisher line.

It's a 71 Gamefisher. Get a carb kit from ebay. they 12 bucks. Look up Eska carb kit. Pay attention to the fuel pump bladder on the face of the carb. Slit has to be at 2 o'clock.

I did, however what came up was several different models came up. The parts diagram didn't match up entirely with the engine. So I wasn't sure which one it was, and couldn't find any information on the serial number
