Help identifying a part

I’m working on a 1987 30 hp Johnson J30ECUB. Rebuilt the carburetor, water pump, starter, and replace the lower unit seals. Now, after re-assembling everything, I have a part leftover that I can’t place… anyone know where this little guy lives?

What diameters and how long is it ?------I do not believe it is part of your outboard motor.

It’s about half in long and quarter inch at the widest point

what else have you taken apart in your shop

Im always tinkering with something. I’m usually pretty good at keeping my projects segregated but, cross contamination isn’t out of the question.

I can't place that part on your motor.-----Any chance somebody threw that on your bench for fun ?
