Re: Help! I just bought a new bassbuggy.
Maybee somebody with the book can give you the year,if you post a message with your model and serial number.

Old fuel is your first line of attack. Almost certainly, this engine had some (if not full) fuel in the system when it was put-up.
This has turned into varnish by now. This is the most common trouble we see here in this forum. You will have varnish in the carbs, varnish on the reeds, fuel filters, fuel pump and fuel hoses. You'll have it in the fuel tank and "painted" on the cylinder walls.
This goo must be completely removed from the fuel system, or it'll give you nothing but grief. This is a ritual we all must perform
every season, trying to eliminate how far we must go to clear the fuel system next year by

1).Cleaning the engine with decarb cleaner before stroring it.

2)Runnning as much of fuel as possable from the tank, hoses and carbs.

3)removing the plugs and giving each cylinder a shot of WD40 or Seafoam Spray. Then re-insert the plugs.

You will still go tru the "routine" every year, but it should limit your prep time before you hit the water, and minimise the hastles once you are there.
And congratultions on the new ride
I hope it's trouble-free in all other repects.
