I am a first time boater, but not new to engines. I have a 1976 70 hp Johnson and recently I replaced the fuel pump, now my engine is always flooding after starting the motor. I can't go more than five feet without the engine looding and then stalling. I checked the carbs, the floats, and needles, and everything seems clear and not sticking, I do not know what to do now. Any sugeestions, please!!!!!

Did you set the floats level with carb body when it's inverted? Do you have float/needle clips installed?

The needle and seat are the only things that control fuel into the carb, are all the carbs flooding at the same time?

Re: Help flooded engine

did you rebuild the fuel pump, replace with new, or replace with used? could be the pump is the cause of the flooding.
