I just picked up a 1960's MFG 17' Closed Bow or Runabout. Unfortunately the hull as no Identification numbers to be found any where.
I was wondering if their was a please on the transom that could have had the embossed numbers that has been filled with years of paint.
The motor on the boat is a 1963 Evinrude so I believe the boat to be of the same year. I looked at all the brochures I could find on line and I did narrow it down to two boats it could be but mine has a walk out wind shield that?s still a bubble round style. All the ones I've seen with the walk out center were squared off and straight back.
The boat was last registered in 2001 in Maine. So I am going to try and see if the might still have the info from that previous registration time.
I received the boat for nothing and the previous owner only used it on a privet lake so he never registered it (so he says).
This boat is in good shape and the motor runs great. I would like to save it from becoming land fill, but if I can't register it then I'll have to pull the motor and all salvageable and buy a good hull.
Please Help?
