I have a 1989 Evinrude XP100. I notice a decent amount of water coming out of the prop when I take the boat out of the water after boating. I pulled the lower bolt to check the oil and its good- no water no murky color no shavings on magnet. Is this normal? I did not know if there was some sort of through prop exhaust that water drains out when engine is shut down. The only other symptom i noticed was after a hot day, there was some oil oozing out the prop- not enough to cause a puddle, just enough to show a trail on the skag. I had the boat out a few weeks earlier with no problems and only saw the oil on that hot day. Had the boat out yesterday- no problems, shifted fine, accelerated fine. Are these symptoms of a seal issue? thanks.

It's normal to see a clearish colored oil if you slightly crack open the bottom drain plug in the lower unit. It's also normal to see some black, oily, tarry liquid coming out the exhaust area. That dark oil is unburned (residual) 2 stroke oil/gas running down the exhaust tube from the engine. You may get a little more of this oily stuff if the engine is running cold. (thermostats stuck open.)

Does this engine exhaust through prop too? I see the oil from the exhaust ports above waterline. I'm also getting oil from prop area too

Yes. 95% of the exhaust comes out of the prop. The two ports at the top of the midsection are exhaust relief ports. They do exhaust a little-basically they are there improve engine idling when sitting at rest with the lower unit buried under 20" of water.
