I have read a ton of threads on this topic, but cant seem to find one that is identical to my problem,
I have a 99 Ski Centurion sport bowrider, with a 5.0 mercruiser inboard, the boat runs great never has a problem when starting from launch never sputters when running, no issues what so ever until we stop for a little while usually more than a hour, the boat will crank up fine but as soon as I start to plane out it sputters then dies and will not recrank until it sits with cover off for 30 min or so. I have tried just about everything, replaced spark plugs, new waterpump impeller, re insulated fuel lines, pulled every water hose to check for debri in catches, and replaced bilge blower and hoses. The only way I have found to get around this issue is to open engine lid when sitting, if we do this the boat cranks back up and runs with no problem. So my question is, is this normal? Should I just get used to popping lid every time we want to stop and swim, or is there a way to fix this?
You guys are awesome by the way I have learned so much about boating from this forum!
