Help!!! 1972 mercury 115 hp line between number 3 and 4 question.

What is this line for and why would water pee out of it also? I am was looking to buy this motor it has good compression but line was not hooked up and had water coming out of it also.

It's either being used for the telltale, or used to go to a water pressure gage.

The cover it's screwed into is merely a water jacket cover so no biggie.

If you're not gonna hook up a gage to it, plug it off. If it's going to the telltale in the right-rear of the lower cowling, it just needs to be reconnected.

It has a telltale already so with both of these were peeing would that cause a motor to heat alarm because of loss of water pressure???

How do you mean heat alarm? I don't think that vintage of motor had alarms unless they were added aftermarket.
