I need some help!!!!!! I have the flywheel off an removed Everything coils condensers, points. Installed the new spark plug wires. And now need to replace everything. My question is where do I start, how do I adjust the points, where doese the little piece of felt go, what needs cleaned and what needs oiled.

Hoo boy, magneto school.

Seriously, if you haven't done it, remove and clean the armature plate mounting rings and lube them very sparingly with some EP grease. Too much grease will just splatter out and foul the points.

Remount the armature plate and install the coils. Make sure the laminations are flush with the machined edges of the posts they mount on. ----Oops, first install the wick in the little metal clip and put it on the odd shaped coil mounting post that it fits.

Install the points

Install the condensers

Connect the wires to the points. Make sure they don't stick up to rub on the flywheel, or rub on any other moving part.

Turn the shaft till one set of points open as far as they will, then adjust the gap to .020". Rotate the shaft till the other set is fully open and repeat.

If you have the factory wick that is pre-lubricated, don't add any oil. If you have one of the dry ones, one drop of oil. Two at most.

When installing the flywheel, the tapers MUST be clean and dry, and you MUST use a torque wrench to tighten the nut to 40-45 foot pounds. Ignoring this may destroy your motor.

I stole this from Wikipedia. I'm not that smart.

Some greases are labeled "EP", which indicates "extreme pressure". Under high pressure or shock loading, normal grease can be compressed to the extent that the greased parts come into physical contact, causing friction and wear. EP grease contains solid lubricants, usually graphite and/or molybdenum disulfide, to provide protection under heavy loadings. The solid lubricants bond to the surface of the metal, and prevent metal-to-metal contact and the resulting friction and wear when the lubricant film gets too thin.
