Re: Hello from VI
Pugetsound I mostly fish with coyote spoons or anchovies. My favorite spoon is the silver prism in 3 ? inch. I fish at all kinds of depths. The other day I was at 175 feet in 200 feet of water. It depends on the time of year and the area. My home port has a terminal fishery in September and I fish between 6 and 20 feet with great success. When I fish Nootka I generally fish at 64 feet. That?s a little deeper than most people but it works for me. A friend of mine likes the Apex lure and had some success with them last year. We were fishing them in very shallow water and the Springs and Coho seemed to like them too. I have also heard that some guys put hootchies over top of them with some good results. It?s all about dialing in with your gear for the conditions that you have in your area.
I don?t fish the Thompson River, but I do fish the Puntledge River for Chum in the fall. This is a bank fishery and a pile of fun.
GLG whats your choice for bait. I generally fish the Salt with herring off a Scotty Downrigger and sometime use a Dodger with it. Most always fish 40-53 ft depth, seems to work best for Me, are you fishing the Thompson River?? Or Mostly the sheltered inland waters? I have seen some nice fish off or only a Apex Lure. I have some in the box but never have used one?? ED
