So I dont really know the right way to clean a carb I'll admit I usually just pull the float clean the needle valve and bowl and reassemble. If anyone has experience cleaning one of these carbs I would appreciate some insight on jets and what have ya. Thank you

First thing: take pics as you go along.
Then have1628329160074.png a piece of paper to write things down.
They used 2 different carbs, figure out the one you have, model# serial# of the motor??
Then the air screw(top of the carb) slowly turn it in and remember the turns in(write it down) then remove.
Take pics as you take it apart, Keep the parts organized as you remove them.
IF???? there's a lot of crud in the float bowl then you'll need to remove the welch plugs #1 and #2 (might be as many as 6 plugs)
Myself the only one I'd remove is #1 the rest can be a PITA to remove/replace.
Maybe a carb rebuild shop? tell them you want the old parts back.
That way you know if they removed the small plugs?
Do not remove the seat, it can result in non repairable damage??
Completely disassembled, then use a spray cleaner.
The soaks can destroy any rubber/plastic left in the carb.

Hey Jerryjerry you found me cross platforms! Man I owe you a beer or something. Ok here we go . That carb in the exploded diagram ( using an exploded diagram to explain parts is brilliant )sure looks like mine . I will post the model and serial number withen the next few hours . I removed the bowl about 1 week ago for the first time since I've owned the motor about 4 years . It was spotless ..cleanest bowl I have ever seen. But I figured while I had it off looking at my intake manifold gaskets I might as well clean it .
What do Welch plugs even do? My # 1 plug look s like there is some kind of clear sealant over it . Should I remove the jet # 19? What seat should I not remove. Also I was sucking air through the intake manifold gaskets but they look really good almost new🤔 . I removed the reeds as well because I was there figured check them can or should i spray them with carb cleaner? Thanks a million your my hero!

So I cleaned the carb checked every thing right to the reeds everything looked brand new but I sprayed the helll out of everything I could . Upon re assembly I was tightening the bolts that hold the carb on and all of the sudden it turned easy . Is that threaded into the intake manifold or glued ? This may have been my problem because I wasn't putting to much torque on it when it started to turn the entire bolt. Now what do I do?

No glue. Holes are tapped

Need to remove stud, install heli-coil and new stud
