Hello, and 25 HP Mercury questions

Hello to everyone! First, I will admit that when it comes to boating and outboards I am a total novice. I would like to ask some assistance from you seasoned veterans. I bought a pontoon boat from a widow. I believe the boat sat in her backyard for two years. Nothing was done to the boat in that time, it was left uncovered and was not winterized. There is a 25 HP Mercury outboard on it. The serial number is 0D228034. I don't know what year it is. It is a two cylinder, but I don't know if it's a two or four stroke. I don't know if it's oil injected or not. In fact, I know almost nothing about it. It will fire, runs briefly, and dies. It has new Autolite spark plugs in it. ANY information you guys can give me will be immensely appreciated!

We would really like to take the boat out and do some fishing!

It's a 1993, 2 stroke engine, If you have had it firing it's to late to prelube it but it would help to double mix the first couple of gallons of fuel. Get a owners manual and read it if you like to save money. Lube the lower unit-- grease the zerts--install a new impeller--Never run the engine out of the water unless connected to a water supply
