I don't want to go hunting for a replacement, I'm trying to head off that problem. Nothing wrong now just trying to keep it that way..

White "thermal grease" is a particle (I forget the white chemical powder.....retired 18 years ago) infused "grease". As such, it dries out over time. You are smart in ensuring it's fresh under anything attached to a heat sink that currently uses the grease.

The old adage of don't fix something that is not broken applies here

The heat transfer compound dried out 15 years ago. Besides, control modules rarely if ever die of heat related failures. It's typically shorts and over /under voltages that take them out.

There is a greater chance you damage a connector, strip a screw, etc. than the module dying of heat in the next 10 years
