Re: Health Insurance dilemma

if you're a domestic partner you're likely common law married anyhow. Go for the spouse option.

Well, I take that back, NY doesn't allow for common law marriages. Interesting. Now if you've lived together in another state...

Handing in your resignation is not.

My son resigned in the last year, twice. Yes, COBRA does apply, and I paid the tab until his new insurance kicked in, twice!

For the OP, check the school insurance closely. Health insurance and adequate health insurance may not be the same ... ;)

If you have COBRA questions, go directly to the horses mouth.

I also have a problem with my health insurance? They increase more than 10 percent this year and I'm really having a hard time paying for it. What should I do?

Re: Health Insurance dilemma

I am pretty sure I can qualify for the health insurance that my fiance gets with college. I know nothing about cobra and have yet to look into it. I am only 30 and healthy. The community rate really sucks, they don't want to discriminate against older people, yet that same logic doesn't apply for the inverse on car insurance for young people.

Questions: Just what are you guys paying for health insurance? (min/max?...+/-?) Is the rate(s) based on the family or you as an individual? Does it have much in the way of limitations or age related?

It won't be COBRA

In reality, what cost has NOT gone up at least 10%, in the last year.

Shop around, maybe.

I would get married, but that is the practicle side of me speaking. Today marraige is more about the legal aspect's of it, not the emotional decission to do it, judges dont care about your emotions, and neither do insurance companies. But $5K is a bunch of $ and I would sure rather see it in my bank account, not the insurance companies. Congrats on your venture
