head scratcher ?!? 40 hp johnson flywheel, and 7.5 p will not shift

7.5 hp ted williams will not come out of neutal. runs good. took engine apart till i could go no further got me stumped.<br /><br />63'40 hp johnson: can't get the flywheel off. Tried usng wheel puller and banged on it, then twisted the puller till bolt snapped.<br /><br />Any ideas ?<br /><br />thanx mike

Pull the prop on the teddy. If the shear pin comes out in three pieces, there's your problem. Lower unit if not prop.<br /><br />'63 Johnson, you're doing what can be done, except maybee heat/ice/ better flywheel puller.<br />The problem is not specific to that motor, they all do that, and can make a preacher cuss.
