Hey! That's a 1958 RDS-20 35hp Super Seahorse on that boat. That motor'll get ANYTHING up on plane, darn it.

Come to think of it, it looks prettier than mine. Maybe they'll trade.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it is because he's on a city street instead of on a tarmack at the airport.

Sean

Re: Having trouble getting up on plane.

Obviously had problems before. I think he's already gotten advise from this forum because there is a trim tab installed. I think Nautijohn may have recommended the wrong size though :D The real reason you are having trouble is because the motor is not trimmed down properly and it is mounted too low. Install a hydraulic jack plate, ventilate the prop, adjust the deflection angle of the tabs, trim the motor down, give the motor a new coat of paint, wax the bottom of the boat, sync and link the carbs, do a decarb, rebuild the carb and fuel pump, install a hood ornament or at least a flag and then it should fly like...like.... well whatever it is.

RodC all very good advice. I plan to take it out this weekend and will try it all. But first i think synthetic two stroke oil will solve all my problems.

Ken

Sorry, judging by the title I thought this was a "Mile-High Club" thread.

Don't forget the wiring and making sure all crimps are tight! Looks like it needs some new light bulbs too.
